nuts, nuts, nuts and damnit. TomA, you were absolutely right: it's
practically impossible to replace the suspension supports without having
the original. So, I cut the original part off the front of the car and
dropped it into place. Unfortunately I'd cut the tops off the front
suspension already, so had to weld those back in place. That dog's dinner
welding the tops back on took *eight* 2.5mm electrodes - four each side.
Oh, and I need to do the inside as well (which will mean turning the car
upside down at some point).
Hourah! got the front suspension strut supports in, and managed to cut them
free of the remaining front parts of the car. It's been... awkward, to say
the least. and has cost about 5 cutting disks. The cross support was left
in for now to make sure that the two suspension tops are kept level and at
the correct distance apart.
