53kg of metal is now sitting in some random location, known only to the courier company, but somewhere in South-west Scotland. So, that means that with a limited number of bits of metal left, the next few days will be "get better at welding" days. Have angle-grinder, have tissue paper stuffed in ears, Will Get Better At Welding. or else.
Stabilising the front suspension is beginning to take shape. The diagonal
out to the top left corner will be cut short to match the length of the
one to the top right, and also welded onto the original wishbone support
in several places.
Due to the angles at which some of these supports are placed, it's actually
getting hard to show in 2D photos what's going on, but the latest additions
are the supports around the front suspension top, and leading down (marked
with the purple stuff). The tyre in the top left corner shows that yes,
attention is being paid as to where the wheel will actually like, go, y'ken?
excuse the hand shielding the sunlight. The shape of the front, which
is being designed to enclose the gearbox and engine (only 26in at the
widest point), is starting to become clear. sort-of. The lower half
of those struts which lead up to the top suspension supports will be
used as part of the enclosure. Potentially, the entire bonnet will be
some light-weight material, with these supports shown here being pretty
much it! Will have to see how stabilising the suspension works out,
first.
